About Bay of Plenty District Health Board (DHB)
The DHB is the primary healthcare provider for the Bay of Plenty region including Tauranga, Whakatane, Opotiki, around the coast to East Cape, with hospitals at Tauranga and Whakatane.
 
About the Role
The DHB currently has a vacancy for a Biomedical Technician / Clinical Engineering 2IC in the newly established Clinical Engineering Department. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate technician who is eager to develop their career.  Reporting to the Clinical Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for servicing, repairing and preventative maintenance of a wide range of medical equipment across the DHB as well as mentoring and training less experienced Biomedical Technicians. Primarily based at Tauranga Hospital, the role will involve some travel throughout the region. This role will include liaising with clinical staff at all levels, so excellent verbal and written communication is expected. The clinical engineering industry is constantly evolving and updating due to technological advances in the field.  This will require the successful candidate to be adaptable, and apply their engineering skills to new challenges.
There will be training and development opportunities provided.
 
What we are looking for:

• Registered Electrical Appliance Service Person with a current Practicing Licence
• Previous hands-on experience in preventative maintenance of medical equipment
• A trade qualification or relevant experience in electronics or biomedical engineering
• A good understanding of AS/NZS 3551, AS/NZS 3760 and / or AS/NZS 2500 Standards
• Experience within the healthcare or electronic service related sector
• Positive attitude and self-motivated
• A willingness to learn and improve skill sets
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
• Computer literate
• Current driving licence
• Be a team player who can also work independently.
