Based in Marlborough, New Zealand we work with a range of dealers and resellers in strategic locations throughout New Zealand and Australia (Australia through our branch in Mount Barker, SA) to develop and supply great solutions to save our customers money, make their jobs easier, safer and more efficient through better equipment solutions.
About the role
Technical Support
Provide support, information and instruction to customers including dealers, technicians, contractors, owners, operators or end users to:
- assist them to trouble-shoot or identify an issue with a machine
- Inform them of best practice to address or rectify the issue
- Instruct them on exact activities or steps involved with task
- Instruct them on correct or appropriate operation of the machine
- Instruct them on appropriate service and/or scheduled maintenance of the machine
- Direct them to technical documentation and support information and instruct on how to access and use this information
Training
Prepare and deliver comprehensive technical training workshops to dealers, groups of end users or service personnel or contractor.
- Prepare and deliver these workshops either onsite with customer or customer group, at FMR premises or online using a webinar environment
- Follow up on workshop recipients to ensure that the format and content was relevant and conveyed correctly
- Train, instruct and guide internal technical staff
Documentation & Systems
- Develop and draft technical guides for specific service or repair tasks using step-by-step instructions including appropriate tools, parts references and expected completion times. Include pictures, photographs and/or video where appropriate
- Develop and draft trouble-shooting guides or knowledge base for all technical issues
- Develop and draft technical 'how-to' documents for all regular scheduled maintenance tasks as well as common failures or wearing component replacement
Product Development
Work with Operations, Marketing and Design engineers to contribute to development of:
- Spare parts manuals
- Standard Operating Procedures
- Technical data sheet
- Technical documentation
Contribute to Product Development project discussions with ideas, feedback, comments or concerns
Manage prototype testing, product trials and reporting/documentation of these
Investigate new ideas, concepts and technologies that come available globally and how these can positively impact the companies products
Warranty
Management of warranty claim processing and negotiation with suppliers and dealer technical teams

Skills and experience
Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
- Must have 5 plus years work experience in technical role, preferably in agricultural or rural based industry
- Must have extensive knowledge and experience of hydraulics, electrical, electronics, fluid and mechanical systems
- Must be computer literate with experience in MS Office (Outlook & Word)
- Must have positive, willing and 'can-do' attitude
- Must be able to communicate well with all stakeholders and competent to deliver training in public where required
- Must be able & willing to conduct travel nationally and occasionally Trans-Tasman or overseas
- Must be a legal resident of New Zealand and 100% fluent in written and spoken English
- Clean, current drivers license required
