About us

Our global catch is approximately 115,000 tonnes and we export over 90% of our New Zealand product to more than 40 countries. Sealord Fishing operates a number of fishing vessels and land based operations including major onshore processing plants in Nelson.

The role

The Maintenance Technicians are key within the Shore Engineering team which services our Nelson processing site. This role will cover night shifts only, working from 10pm Monday - 6am Saturday working an eight hours shift pattern.

This technical role will champion pro-active maintenance of plant equipment, ensuring compliance with health and safety and quality standards.

Who we are looking for

You will have a trade qualification in either Mechanical Engineering or Fitting and Turning with a hands-on and proactive approach to maintenance of plant equipment and services in a food manufacturing environment. Proven experience in the repair and maintenance of automated processing and packaging equipment is a must and you will have sound knowledge of fitting and light fabrication. Experience in refrigeration would be particularly beneficial.

You will be required to have a strong commitment to health and safety with a working knowledge of HACCP food safety principles.

This role will also require you to have sound knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.

You will be comfortable working in a demanding environment, using your multitasking and prioritising abilities and adapting to new situations quickly. You'll also need to have plenty of energy, a can do attitude and the desire to focus on problem-solving and working through ways to make process equipment and production situations more efficient.
