KiwiRail is New Zealand's national railway, employing around 3,400 talented people in a wide range of business functions. Our Network Services team is responsible for maintaining 4,000 kilometres of rail corridor, bridges, tunnels, viaducts, overhead wires, signals and level crossings.
We are seeking a Field Production Manager to join our Network Services team based in Otahuhu.
Your Role
In this role you will provide Gangers and field staff with practical field advice on job delivery and be responsible for ensuring that your Gangers are delivering quality work using the agreed systems and methods. You will also demonstrate the competencies in our Leadership Capability Framework in your management style, and be driven to build a high performing team who deliver quality work on time and to Code by setting cllear expectations and monitoring the performance of both your team members and the team as a whole. With your continuous improvement mind-set you will be able to easily spot productivity improvements, make the necessary recommendations, and follow-through to implement these.
Your Skills
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering and/or Trade experience in an operational environment (Rail, Construction, etc)
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to grow a high performing team
- A commitment to Zero Harm with a continuous improvement mind-set
- Experinece usining asset databases and ability to produce quiereis and reports from engineering databases
- Experience with SAP or similar work project planning software

To secure this position, you will have demonstrated experience in managing a team of staff in an infrastructure environment. Ideally you will possess strong knowledge of track and/or structures maintenance, with a familiarity of the rail infrastructure codes and standards as well.
Please note that you will need to be able to work night shift and travel on an occasional basis as well as attend block of lines on the weekend on a monthly basis.
