This is a wonderful opportunity for a competent draftsperson to take on a more diverse and rewarding role in a unique construction environment, with an emerging leader in the sustainable, eco-friendly and innovative residential construction industry.
The role involves working within 2 different areas of a construction business - involving design and construction of bespoke and very unique engineered-timber residential and commercial buildings, alongside their production business who both produce and import a range of bespoke structural timber components for unique and varied architectural building projects. Working with company management, dealing with external designers, the production team on site and other international specialist production companies, you will be a key part in transitioning new projects from initial capture through to their successful completion and supply to the projects.
You will take architectural concept designs through detailed design and to working drawing/consent documentation stages, as well as taking working drawings through to detailed shop-drawings/manufacturing documentation. Unlike your average drafting role, you will enjoy working between a design office, construction project / site and manufacturing environment, interacting with external design professionals while working closely with your in-house management and production tradespeople. The role ideally suits someone with a passion for design, training and ability in detailing, and an interest in the more practical elements involved with construction. In addition, the business is seeking to migrate to a new design software platform, and you will play a key role in the implementation, set-up and efficiency of this system!
Ideal attributes required:
- Proven CAD Competency - AutoCAD desired, although alternatives may be considered as the company given that the company presently reviewing their CAD platform
- NZ Experience - Understanding of and ability to design and draft to NZ building codes, standards and with understanding of trends on materials and technology in the NZ market is critical to this role
- Communication Skills - This role will enjoy interfacing with a range of different internal and external contacts, as such, we need you to be a confident, professional and capable communicator
- Legal Entitlement to Live and Work in NZ - This is a permanent role requiring an immediate/urgent start, for a new team member to integrate and be a key part of the business for years to come
