The City Waters team is responsible for wastewater treatment for Tauranga City. This includes, operating and maintaining all associated infrastructure across two treatment plants and operating wastewater pump stations. The plants use advanced activated sludge processes with tertiary treatment, wetlands, flow attenuation and ocean outfall. The Te Maunga plant is undergoing a significant upgrade to cope with growth and this new position will play a key role in the commissioning and operations of the latest technology in the industry.
We are looking for a Wastewater Treatment Technician, to complement and enhance our current team and ensure that strong working relationships can be maintained and strengthened over time.
Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining treatment plants and pumping stations, to ensure 100% availability and compliance with resource consents. This is a rostered position that will require weekend work and being on call at about every 5 weeks.
You will be responsible for plant operations, quality assurance, and managing relationships with supervisors and colleagues. The plants use advanced SCADA systems that require a good level of computer literacy.

We are looking for someone with:
- Certificate/Diploma in water or wastewater treatment
- A mechanical or electrical qualification is desirable but not essential
- A current Full Drivers Licence.
It would be great if you also had a forklift license and had completed confined space training (but if not, we can provide support and training).
