The Transmission Gully Project involves the construction of a new highway through challenging terrain that requires approximately 8 million cubic metres of earthworks, significant stream diversions and vegetation clearing. The Project works include 27 kilometres of 4-lane motorway in a single road corridor, 3 grade-separated interchanges, 2 grade-separated connections, and 28 separate bridge and underpass structures.
This is a major project, both in size and significance to the local community.

Reporting to the Construction Manager (in the absence of the General Superintendent), the key focus for this role is to provide management of direct labour and sub-contractors in a healthy and safe work environment whilst optimising peak productivity. The Superintendent will lead a significant workforce that exceeds 200 people in addition to driving pavement engineering operations.
Key accountabilities of the role will include:
- Maintaining the health and safety of all employees and sub-contractors within your zone of responsibility
- Provide guidance and leadership to a mixed skillset of workers with a priority to up skill and develop
- Drive productivity in terms of pavement engineering
- Delivering works to budget, on time and to the quality standards required by the client
- Quality Management
- Inspections, audits and investigations
To be successful in this position you will have the following:
- A commitment to safety and health above all else
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in a construction leadership position
- A skillset in pavement engineering with significant road construction experience
- Minimum of 10 years employment history within a top tier civil contractor
- High dollar project experience that exceeds $500m in value
