This successful civil contracting company is looking to recruit a QS into the business to price jobs, run the costs on projects and work on claims & variations. Experience of working on similar projects (earthworks, excavations, retaining walls, landscaping, footings, piling etc) in New Zealand is essential to be considered. The role is paying $70-100k depending on experience, a vehicle is also included.
Most of the company's work is secured by negotiation with existing customers but they are also sometimes active in the tender market. Projects and jobs can range in value from $100k up to $2-3m. The job holder will be running up to ten jobs at any one time so good organisational and time prioritisation skills are essential. Excellent communication skills are a must.
This role will be mainly office based in West Auckland but they operate throughout the Auckland region. Site visits and client liaison will be a part of the role. As well as providing Quantity Surveying experience to existing and future projects, this role will help the team to carry out construction opportunities within the time, quality and budget.
Our client is also looking for:
- 5+ years of proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor
- Relevant industry qualifications in Quantity Surveying or Civil Engineering
- Sound working knowledge of contract law
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Preparation and negotiation of contractual claims and variations
- Financial reporting and cost control
- Ability to use initiative and pay close attention to detail
