We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our Hamilton based First Gas Business Unit. The key purpose of this position is to plan and implement gas capital works projects to ensure they are completed on time, to an appropriate quality standard and to achieve planned profit or better as per project bid margin targets.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Planning the project utilising computer based planning packages to ensure milestones are achieved and resources optimised.
  • Achieving project margins, identifying any problems with cost and time implications and taking corrective action as required.
  • Carrying out all required company and contractual reporting correctly and on time.
  • Ensuring good governance in respect of all legal, regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Ensuring continuous improvements occur within the Electrix Management Systems.
  • Assisting Project Managers from other areas in the recovery of poor performing contracts.
  • Managing, developing and mentoring staff performing a variety of roles at various levels.
  • Re-estimating labour to complete the job at the end of each month.
  • Ensuring all variations are identified, submitted and authorised by the client.
  • Ensuring that both Electrix and the client comply with the Contract Agreement.
  • Presenting monthly progress claims correctly and on the due dates.
  • Managing labour to maintain excellent productivity and industrial relations.
  • Applying the industry codes of practice and ensuring they are complied with on each project.
  • Ensuring safe working methods and the requirements of the Health and Safety in Employment Act are followed and communicated to all staff through holding regular QSE meetings.
  • Carrying out QSE planning and managing and contributing to the continuous improvement of QSE practices. 

Qualifications/ Technical Knowledge / Skills/ Training required

  • Proven experience in a senior management role.
  • Engineering Degree or similar.
  • Previous experience in the gas industry is preferred.
  • Possess estimating/tendering skills, with an ability to be hands-on.
  • Sound knowledge of contemporary contract delivery models and contract law.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, complex project/contract conditions, risk management and contract bonding arrangements as well as technical problems that occur outside of standard operating procedures.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills to interact with customers and team members at all levels.
  • Experience in and ability to mentor other project managers as required.
