HSE Manager

We’ve built a reputation for safety ensuring our people “Act with Care” and keeping themselves, the general public and the environment safe and free from harm. Our health and safety professionals are central to this approach and we now have a requirement in our Auckland Branch for an HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) Manager. 

Reporting to the Branch Manager in Auckland, you will oversee HSE matters for the Auckland region in line with the group HSE strategy through delivering identified practices, programmes and procedures. You will gain exposure to significant infrastructure projects and a substantial staff base, in this secure branch-based role with significant improvement opportunities to be implemented by the right person. While this is a branch-based role, you will need to have an appetite to get around to our sites and projects frequently. 

We are keen to speak to people who can achieve HSE excellence through generating engagement in safety, rather than just compliance. Although candidates offering experience relating to the construction sector will be considered favourably, we do not believe that this is an absolute requirement for the role and candidates from closely related industries are encouraged to apply.  

This is a challenging position suited to those who are passionate about health and safety and who enjoy working with and alongside a diverse range of people. The successful individual will be someone who has the ability to positively increase HSE performance by building a safety culture through their ability to influence and coach others. 

You will have strong working knowledge of the New Zealand legislative environment including HSE, ACC, HSNO and industry guidelines and standards. We are looking for someone who will offer excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to positively engage and interact with the diversity of people we work with. 

The successful candidate will be an individual who can demonstrate their ability to make a significant impact on an organisation’s performance through a range of compelling initiatives they may have created, improved on or adopted. This role does require someone who is comfortable and experienced in developing, writing and implementing policies and processes.
