The organisation
Our client is a well-known public organisation undergoing a large programme of work in Auckland. Working on what will be one of the largest procurement programmes in Auckland this is expected to continue for a number of years, providing exciting and continuous project work.
The role
The role of the Program Manager is to provide leadership and work within a strategic context, to manage and deliver large, complex, critical programmes on time, to budget, to the agreed scope to realise the identified benefits.
Some of the specific responsibilities include:
- Maintain an effective relationship with the business sponsor, business groups and the technology teams
- Proactively drive the programme to achieve the business outcomes defined in the business case (including benefits, scope, timeline and budget), escalate any potential variation.
- Tracking and managing project financials and escalate issues as appropriate
- Liaising with other Project Managers within the organisation to resolve any issues that may hinder the progression of the project or other business activities.
- Identifying areas for continuous activity improvement/mitigate loss
- Managing the relationships with external vendors
- Leading the project team by enabling others, sharing knowledge/expertise and collaboration.
Key requirements
You will be a seasoned Programme Manager, capable of working autonomously within complex environments. You will possess an industry qualification which demonstrates your IT and/or Project Management knowledge, such as Prince 2.
Additionally, you will be well adept in:
- Proven experience as a Programme Manager, Senior Project Manager or other managerial position
- Cost reduction projects
- Managing multiple projects with changing demands and priorities
- Managing global sourcing projects
- Developing and negotiating and with external and internal stakeholders
