Great opportunity to join our dynamic and friendly Newmarket based team. We are a Chartered Accounting firm providing accounting, tax and compliance, computer support, wealth protection, estate/trusts and business development assistance to a wide range of clients.

We are an Approved Training Organisation with excellent in-house training.

The Role

We are looking for a career focused person to fill in a role of an accountant. You will be reporting to an Associate who will also act as your mentor towards your CAANZ membership.  

It is a permanent full time role (40 hours per week) with a salary range of $40,000 to $45,000.

Responsibilities include:

  • Preparation and reconciliations of Wages, GST, PAYE and FBT returns and preparing relevant work papers.
  • Preparation of financial statements and tax returns for clients with simpler structures.
  • Assistance with preparation of financial statements and tax returns for larger clients.
  • Reconciliation of Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet accounts and reporting to managers/ associates.
  •  Liaising with Inland Revenue on Tax Assessments and other client matters.
  • Assisting with accounting software and financial data for selected clients. Performing investigations of errors and reconciling/ reporting various aspects of financial accounts.
  • Provide assistance to associates and managers to facilitate timely tax filing and payment of taxes by their clients.
  • Maintenance of internal control policies and procedures at the firm and assist with designing new ones.  
  • Preparing Fee Billings, Timesheet Management, End of Month Office Costing Processing and perform other general administration and office work as and when required. 

To be considered you need to meet the following criteria :

  • Relevant Bachelor's degree with accounting and/ or finance major.
  • Must have fulfilled or nearly completed all CAANZ approved university level academic requirements.
  • You'll have relevant work experience (approximately 3 years) in an accounts department or accountancy firm with exposure to annual financial statements, tax returns and other year-end financial processes.
  • Have intermediate to advanced Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint skills 
  • Must have experience of using an accounting software (e.g Xero, MYOB or similar product).
  • Some knowledge of offshore and NZ financial investments would be beneficial
  • Strong communication skills - verbal and written. This is a must as the role involves interacting with government agencies and clients alike.
  • Ability to communicate in Hindi/Punjabi will be an advantage as we have a large and growing Indian client base.
