Detail information about job Retaining Wall Foreman. Terms and conditions vacancy

  • Work hard but have fun
  • Career defining project
  • A chance to show off your leadership skills

The Project

Fulton Hogan is proud to be working with our Alliance partners, NZTA, HEB, Jacobs, Opus, Gaia and Isthmus delivering the Northern Corridor Improvements (NCI) project.  NCI will provide better links for Northern Motorway (SH1) travellers in Auckland, improving transport options on the North Shore for freight, cars, pedestrians and cyclists.

This major infrastructure project has some great challenges and includes new motorway connections between SH1 and SH18, a 4km extension of the northern busway, 25,000m2 of retaining walls, 18 bridge structures, 1 million m3 of earthworks, 200,000m2 of new pavements, 7km of new paths and cycleways, plus many more exciting and innovative construction components being built over the next 4 years.

The Opportunity

Come and shape your career with us! This role will set up your career – after this project you’ll be ready to step up into a Supervisor position! On this project, you’ll be working for the best leader you’ve ever had – he’s a leader, not a manager – and he wants to bring out the best in you.

If you’re into the detail of earthworks and dub yourself a ‘Finishing Foreman’ in earthworks, then this is ideal for you because you’ll be working on a 10km stretch of MSE/reinforced retaining walls – the last wall being completed in 2020.

In this role, you need to constantly thinking of the next step, ensuring we are always running ahead of time and making sure we have the materials required for the upcoming work in advance. Let your leadership shine, guiding two tightknit, committed crews building two retaining walls.  They will look to you for guidance on the best way to complete work to time and quality, with health and safety front of mind.

The Candidate

We are looking for an exceptional leader with an eye for detail and a talent for problem solving. You will ensure effective coordination of all people on jobs and share our passion and dedication for creating a safe workplace environment. Your extensive experience working in a construction environment will come in handy as you will be required to jump on the excavators or rollers every now and then.

The following skills and attributes are also required:

  • Strong experience with building walls, bulk/detailed excavation, deep excavation, pavements or roadwork projects will be highly advantageous
  • Good attitude
  • Ability to gain trust and respect of those in your team as well as your seniors
  • Class 2 drivers licence minimum and WTR essential
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Desire to lead and mentor a team

The Benefits

Come and work for a team that works hard but has fun. Everyone looks out for each other here and watches each other’s backs and once you are on this project you are considered family. This is an opportunity to define your career now, while being a part of something major that you can be proud of and share with your children and grandchildren in the years to come.
