The company we are recruiting for require a Quantity Surveyor on a contract basis to put together costings and contracts for a development project in Auckland. They are building a child care centre and housing on currently vacant land.
This is a temporary contract position which will be for an estimated 30-40 hours of work over a period of 3 weeks initially, then some further input as the project progresses. The person will attend meetings with the developer and external parties, along with carrying out site visits of the land to be developed. Actual output development can be done working from home.
Duties:
- Build a detailed bottom-up budget – in consultation with the builders that the developer has appointed. This budget needs to be developed with flexibility for adding contingencies, variations etc. Will need a separate budget for the child-care centre and the townhouses
- Recommend provisions / clauses which will be needed to incorporate into the contracts with the builder/s and other counterparties, to achieve desired level of legal and commercial robustness
- Engage in dialogue with our financier’s appointed QS for clarification on metrics / assumptions etc
- Build a detailed project plan (timelines / milestones)
Skillset/background:
- Technical understanding of residential construction projects, specifically in the first home buyer market
- Ability to quantify costs, at a granular level for property projects, and benchmark against industry standards
- Cost Estimator / QS / Project Manager / Development Manager type background
- Prepare required outputs in a format and quality that will stand up to scrutiny to top tier industry QS who will evaluate and critique on behalf of the financiers
- Need to hit the ground running, so prefer someone with suitable depth and quality of industry experience
