An exciting opportunity has come available for an Intermediate Project Manager based in Tauranga for our client who specialises in Structural Steel Projects. The main purpose of this position is to oversee projects, including planning and liaising with clients, workshop foreman, draughts people, and the teams on-site to ensure workloads and time lines are met, while at the same time ensuring effective and efficient project management in conjunction with external project managers. You will be working predominately on projects that range from $5m - $20m + so you will need to be a smooth operator. Strong communication and organisational skills are essential as will be your effective people management and leadership skills. You will be proactive and able to manage multiple projects at one time. Some of the key responsibilities: • Liaise with management on project requirements, receive shop drawing packages and distribute to the workshop production manage, with timelines required. • Liaise with the workshop production manager to ensure that delivery dates scheduled are kept to as far as possible • Maintain quality standards in conjunction with the Workshop Production Manager • Consult daily with the General Manager and the Project Manager over the fabrication programming • Recommend any capital investment required • Ensure that appropriate manufacturing records are maintained, track progress of manufacturing for projects and liaise with Project manager on all delivery dates/ scheduling • Liaise with Site crews daily on progress and requirements. • Make regular monthly site visits and check site crew progress and liaise with client’s project staff. • Ensure that the appropriate ‘completion documentation’ has been compiled and signed off. There will be an element of travel Nationally for this position due to the location of the projects. You will be comfortable with travelling and spending nights away from home. You will be well remunerated for this position along with being provided with a company vehicle.
