The Company

Our client is one of the biggest Civil Construction Contractors in the Waikato Region. Their many clients have watched its growth to now include; earthworks, cartage, local body and highway infrastructure, subdivisions, retaining walls, minor bridge construction and repairs, coastal and river bank protection, stop bank construction, wastewater and stormwater drainage and pumping, water reticulation, siteworks, landscaping and concrete works. Due to rapid growth they are now looking for an additional Project/Contracts Manager to join their tight knit team.

The Role

This role reports directly to the Divisional Manager and works closely with the Waikato Regional Manager and wider Management team, Quantity Surveyors, Drivers and Operators. The purpose of this role is to ensure that contracts, projects and jobs are successfully managed to meet budget and programme, and that quality targets are set and agreed with Divisional Manager / Waikato Regional Manager / NZ Operations Manager and clients. You would be responsible for:

  • Contract Manager on our construction sites within the Waikato Region
  • Day to day operation of all activities onsite
  • Instructing site foreman and operators
  • Programming works on a daily and weekly basis, including updates to programme
  • Ensuring all staff and plant are working at optimum to achieve safety, quality and profit
  • Daily site records and feedback
  • Handling of minor staff issues and disputes
  • Site Safety, Hazard ID’s, implementing safety measures as necessary
  • Programming and communication with all suppliers and sub-contractors to meet our programme and budget.
  • Any other reasonable task as required / requested from time to time

  • Be a self-starter
  • Keen to learn and contribute to the team
  • Willingness to learn from others and look to improve every day
  • Be well presented and take pride in representing the company
  • Able to work without supervision in a timely and accurate manner
  • Experience in a Project/Contracts Manager role (the client is open to the level of experience required)
  • No qualification required but is a bonus. Experience is more important.
