About us

The Bay of Plenty Regional Council is responsible for the sustainable management of the region's natural resources. We look after important functions relating to environmental protection and enhancement, safety and resilience, regional development, promoting responsible resource use and overseeing compliance activities. Our Role

The primary function of this role is to conduct engineering surveying work, to undertake flood monitoring duties and to conduct rivers and drainage survey investigations; there’s also a fascinating number of programmes and technical projects for a keen, willing and enthusiastic individual itching to get ahead in their career. Learn from experienced professionals as you get totally involved in river schemes, drainage, coastal and soil conservation activities. 

The position is based from Whakatāne, and reports to the Surveying Team Leader.

The skills and personal attributes we look for:  

* A Diploma in Surveying
* Good knowledge of common survey practices – including the requirements for modelling and current survey methodologies
* A champion for quality
* Excellent problem solving ability 
* Health and Safety focused
* A high level of written ability combined with good verbal communication skills
* Working knowledge of project management systems

Ideally you will have had three or more years’ experience working in the surveying field, but we are also prepared to consider recent graduates who are seeking opportunities to progress, and who would come in at a lower grade

This position may require the individual to undertake field work and site inspections, however a work based vehicle will be provided and if required, we’ll also put you through four wheel driving training.
