Northpower operates electricity and fibre network businesses servicing the Whangarei and Kaipara regions. They also own one of the largest electricity services businesses in New Zealand supporting electricity network businesses throughout the North Island.  They employ over 1200 staff across the North Island of New Zealand.

Reporting to and working alongside the CEO, the primary purpose of this role is to ensure financial and strategic objectives of the Northpower Group are achieved.  The CFO will lead the Finance group and the wider Group in the deployment of effective commercial practices and business controls.  Key functions include leading insight to the wider Management Group on how to enhance business value over time, via strong commercial and risk management disciplines, developing finance team members to position them as trusted senior advisors in the business, guiding effective positioning of Northpower Group businesses via a focus on optimizing financial value, and implementation of targeted financial strategies. Additional key areas include understanding commercial expertise across the business and working with the Leadership team to strengthen commercial acumen and effectiveness over time, and  understanding the efficiency and accuracy of Northpower’s high transaction financial-facing processes, and transition to a leading automated position over time.  Positioning Northpower’s management of the Supply Chain as a key enabler of business success is another important area of focus.

Direct reports will include the positions of Finance Manager, Commercial Manager, Procurement Manager and Financial Controller.

This is a varied role requiring outstanding commercial and financial acumen as well as excellent leadership and communication skills.  You’ll need a collaborative approach, and your CV will clearly indicate your previous successes gained while working in other CFO positions in New Zealand, ideally within contracting, infrastructure, or related industries.   You’ll relish the chance to actively contribute, debate, improve and lead from the front.   Your CA membership will be current, and you’ll enjoy imparting your knowledge and acting as a role model for others.
