The Taranaki region is a critical component in New Zealand’s economic and cultural development. Supporting the region to achieve economic, business and brand growth is Venture Taranaki Trust, Taranaki’s regional development agency. Established as a Council Controlled Organisation of New Plymouth District Council in 2004, Venture Taranaki is regarded as one of the innovative performers in regional development in the country.
Venture Taranaki is now looking for a Chief Executive to build on the achievements of the retiring Chief Executive to drive Venture Taranaki, and the Taranaki economy through the transition to a low carbon economy.
Responsible for executing the overall strategic direction, management and leadership of Venture Taranaki, the CEO plays an integral role in linking Venture Taranaki to government agencies, sector groups, organisations and the public.
Success will require you to:
- Lead and support the development of and implementation of local, regional and national strategies for the creation of a vibrant and prosperous regional economy
- Encourage and support sustainable business growth, investment and employment opportunities in the New Plymouth District and Taranaki region
- Support the region’s commercial enterprises, large and small, mature or start-up to establish, flourish and prosper
- Work collaboratively to engage a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders throughout the community
The successful candidate will be a contemporary executive with a track record of successful leadership and relationship management. With excellent knowledge of sector issues and strong networks, you will be astute in navigating stakeholders. Equipped with energy to positively impact the community, you will have superior negotiation skills, highly developed advocacy capability and exceptional communication. This is a prime opportunity for a dynamic individual to contribute significant leadership to drive the New Plymouth District and Taranaki regional economy.
