Our client is a Kiwi success story.  Formed more than 20 years ago from humble beginnings, the company is now the largest NZ-owned player in its industry, with turnover set to pass the $10M mark this year.  Its success has been based on innovation and agility, quality products, exceptional customer service and a great company culture.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced CEO/GM to drive and guide the company through its next phase of development.  With a commitment from shareholders to grow the business, there is potential for the right candidate to purchase an equity position to share in that growth, and benefit from the fruits of their own hard labour.

Reporting to an Advisory Board, this hands-on role would involve :-

• Contributing to the strategic direction of the business, bringing a high level of business acumen and understanding of a manufacturing environment with a sales/market driven focus
• Taking ownership of projects and new business opportunities; identifying options, challenging the status quo, researching, reporting and ultimately managing the project through to successful completion
• Directing the admin function within the business, ensuring the internal structure and processes enable the business to perform at a consistently high level and grow
• Providing leadership and support to the production and sales functions within the business, working closely with capable and experienced section heads
• Providing strong financial management and ensuring reporting, analysis and commentary to add value to this profitable business
• Continuing the company’s ongoing drive for the highest levels of safety, and to create products that are environmentally sustainable

Our ideal candidate will have 3-5 years’ experience in a General Management role, preferably in a medium sized or larger manufacturing business, going to market through distributors.  A broad range of experience including sales, marketing and exposure to internal IT/Technology projects would be an advantage.  The opportunity may suit an experienced GM who is looking for an opportunity in a smaller but growing business that provides challenge, stimulation and a good team environment, with the opportunity to buy into the success.

• Sound commercial acumen, judgement and analytical skills
• The ability to effectively execute strategy against a plan, on time and within budget
• Great interpersonal, relationship building and communication skills with staff, customers and industry networks

• The financial resources to take a 5-15% ($500K - $1.5 M) equity position within the business
