  • Newly Established Foundation
  • Networking and Fundraising

The Auckland Health Foundation (the Foundation) is a new charity, set up to raise funds to enhance the Adult Health Services of the Auckland District Health Board (Auckland DHB); which means any services provided by Auckland DHB, other than those provided to children or their parents by Starship Children’s Health.

Reporting to the Chair of the Board, appointed board members will support the work of the Foundation by providing oversight and governance for the activities of the Foundation. This will be complemented by their ability to influence on behalf of the Foundation, make introductions to prospective donors and build relationships with current and new donors. It is expected that appointed board members make a pro-active and strategic contribution to networking and donor cultivation in target demographics that reflect the cultural diversity of Auckland.

As a board member you will:

  • Provide clear direction and support to enable the CEO to develop, implement and successfully deliver strategic plans.
  • Contribute to the strategic direction of the Foundation, reviewing outcomes and outputs, evaluating impact and measuring performance and effectiveness against agreed KPIs.
  • A commitment to building a strong culture of health philanthropy – a commitment to identifying, introducing and cultivating prospective Foundation donors – developing and maintaining long-term relationships with major donors.
  • Represent the Foundation to stakeholders in the wider Auckland business community, acting as an ambassador and building awareness for the organisation at large.
  • Make a proactive and strategic contribution to networking and donor cultivation.

We are interested in talking to people who can show that they have the below experience and attributes:

  • Charitable experience in governance or strategic position and/or a clear understanding of the role and remit of governance in a not-for-profit environment.
  • An understanding of the mix and balance of key drivers as they apply to the Foundation – fundraising and philanthropy, health sector, government, volunteerism and commercial sector.
  • Ability to support and enable the growth of the Foundation through networks, connections, influence, enthusiasm and vision.
  • Proven success in the development of organisational strategies.
  • Background with a network or understanding of private wealth.

These are volunteer positions for an initial 3-year term with bi-monthly board meetings that offer you the opportunity to positively impact the wellbeing of thousands of people.
