What you will do

You will lead and drive the enhancement of the existing equipment management function whilst introducing a new business model that delivers proactive, predictive, standardised and consistent practices for equipment management across the NZDF. You will be accountable for the strategic through-life management of NZDF equipment ensuring it is fit for use. As well as enhancing current business practices you will have a significant focus on stakeholder engagement and relationship management as well as anticipating future changing requirements, undertaking the planning and implementation within the organisation in order to meet those challenges.

What we need

We're looking for a seasoned professional who is future looking, strategic and delivery focussed. You will be able to lead your team to deliver a structured approach to developing and delivering high quality equipment management, strategic planning, advice, research and analysis. Knowledge of logistics and asset management methodologies, particularly ISO 55000, is essential.
You will be able to apply a range of proven industry approaches leveraging your skills and successful management experience at an executive level. Superior communication, customer and stakeholder relationship management skills will also crucial to your success in this role.

The background

The operational arm of the NZDF Equipment Management Organisation is already in place and in the short term you will need to strengthen the strategic planning, analytics, business support and future development functions for equipment management. You and your leadership team will first be embedded within the Consolidated Logistics Project to lead the design of these functions and build the required organisational capability. On 1 July 2019 the operational and support functions will come together under your leadership, reporting to the Commander of Logistics, to lead the new pan NZDF Equipment Management Organisation forwards.

  • most preferably a NZ citizen who has resided continuously in this country for the last 10 years, OR
  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, UK or the USA; and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZSIS towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at a higher level.
