Bring your leadership and management experience, and add value to MIX – we’re a passionate NGO working to support mental health recovery in our community.

Our General Manager has spent many years guiding our organisation and is leaving us in a strong position.  We are not looking to fill her fabulous shoes but to honour the path she has walked. Will you take up the torch for our amazing organisation? 

MIX is a not-for-profit organisation with more than 30 years experience working with people who experience mental distress. We offer a choice of opportunities to learn, grow and connect through our Community & Wellbeing Programme, and Creative Spaces Programme which are delivered at out Lower Hutt and Upper Hutt services. Your role will be based in Lower Hutt.

With a newly completed strategic plan, you will step in to bring this vision into reality by creating and implementing sound business plans to ensure services are tailored to the participants needs, whilst meeting funding outcomes.

As the leader of a small organisation, you will also be comfortable with “mucking in” to ensure high quality services are delivered and the “engine room” is running smoothly. Basically, you’re someone who is strategically focused with their feet planted firmly on the ground! You need to be a doer and a thinker.

We attribute our continued growth and success to the strong leadership provided and those who have partnered with us on their way, contributing their skills and expertise. Now we are looking for someone who can help us flourish into the future through achieving sustainability, specifically around expanding our funding sources, as well as exploring social enterprise opportunities. Are you up for the challenge?

Some key skills and experience you will need to bring:

•         Understanding of the Mental Health and NGO sector

•         Good problem solving abilities

•         Financial Management – setting and managing budgets (this doesn’t have to be a strength as we can support you with this)

•         Resourceful, creative and innovative

•         A relational and transparent leadership style

•         Proven track record of building and sustaining positive relationships with key stakeholders including funders

•         Entrepreneurial Mindset with the ability to translate this into the social services sector.

•         Contract Management experience

•         Well grounded, with an empathetic nature

What is most important to us is that you are a good fit with our team and share our values and vision. We are open to providing development opportunities within the role to the successful candidate and the hours may be negotiable between 32-40 per week.
