Detail information about job Chief Executive Officer. Terms and conditions vacancy

  • Privately-owned group of veterinary clinics
  • Opportunity to grow a business nationally and into Australia
  • Family culture with strong rural focus

VetSouth is a privately-owned group of veterinary clinics and distribution assets servicing the rural sector in New Zealand and Victoria in Australia. Headquartered in Southland, the business provides clinical services for both production animals and domestic pets through a network of practices in Southland, Otago, Westland and the Waikato. VetSouth has ambitions to expand its clinical presence and distribution footprint both nationally and internationally.

The Board is seeking a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to work closely with the senior management team and Executive Directors in delivering on its strategy, at the same time as maintaining its existing successful culture, across an expanding organisation. They will enter the business at a pivotal time in its evolution as a clear strategy emerges for growth. Though not a ‘corporatisation’ play, the CEO will work to raise the sophistication of the business to maximise the value captured from an extensive clinical network and significant buying power in the supply chain.

With veterinary practices at the core of the business, a respect for the independence and autonomy of clinics will continue to be crucial in building relationships with key stakeholders. This speaks to the influencing nature of this role that underpins how the central infrastructure of the organisation can best support clinics and leverage their scale for longevity through commercial benefit.

Candidates for this role may come from any industry but a grounding or understanding of the rural sector and the rural community is important in establishing trust across the business and with customers. A clear empathy for the communities and people that the organisation touches is important.

Kerridge & Partners is leading the appointment process. To enquire or express interest, please email Tim Scanlan at [email protected]. This role is based in Southland with additional travel as required.

Applications close at 6pm on Thursday 2 August.
