About the business and the role

Global Velocity Group Limited is a NZ owned organisation that designs, manufactures and distributes a range of clothing to wholesale customers in NZ. We are specialists in the custom design, manufacture and supply of all types of clothing and accessories to large retail brands, corporates and schools throughout NZ.

Head office is based in Hamilton, NZ. The region to be covered in this role covers the lower North Island; from Wellington/Hutt Valley up to Wairarapa/Hawkes Bay as well as Manawatu.

The position can either be based in Palmerston North or Wellington  

While an important part of the role is to manage existing retail stores in terms of orders, promotions, marketing activity etc there is strong focus on developing new customers in the assigned region. Prospective new customers will range from corporate, business, sports clubs/teams and schools, for example.

Job tasks and responsibilities

Reporting to the National Sales Manager, the primary responsibilities of this position include:

  • Demonstrable track record of sales - 3+ years
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers to ensure optimum commercial results
  • In store execution - ranging, stock positioning, management of promotional displays
  • Obtaining orders
  • Attending tradeshows and other events as required by management
  • Prospecting and establishing new customers
  • Follow a structured call cycle, calling on existing and potential customers
  • Keeping management informed by submitting activity and sales results reports
  • Resolving customer complaints
  • Maintaining professional and relevant technical knowledge
  • An ability to add value and a desire to grow sales
  • An honest, ethical and quality service focused approach to customer relations
  • General administrative functions
  • Hardworking, Energetic and Ambitious and Accountable
  • Team player who loves to have a laugh
  • Other duties as the employer may reasonably require

  • Computer skills
  • Prior or current experience in product sales, especially in relation to sportswear or the apparel industry would be well regarded.
  • Clean, full NZ drivers licence is essential
