Business Relationship Consultant – Rotorua
Te Tumu Paeroa is an independent, professional, trustee organisation. Our work is to protect and grow the land and assets of over 85,000 landowners who we work on behalf of. We look after 2,000 trusts, companies and joint ventures across 100,000 hectares of Māori land.

A vacancy exists for a Business Relationship Consultant based from the Rotorua office. This role will develop and maintain a portfolio of Trust accounts and requires a dynamic leader to work alongside whenua Māori Trustees and owners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proven understanding and/or application of relationship management practices, particularly within a Māori context.
- Ability to engage and influence internal and external stakeholders to achieve the desired outcomes.
- Business acumen including ability to understand and assess a commercial proposition at a high level.
- Liaise with internal teams to ensure service delivery requirements and development project commitments are followed through.
- Administer and manage a portfolio of Trusts
- Support and lead strong governance across the portfolio
- Identify potential development opportunities.
Key Requirements:
- Demonstrated leadership at a senior level and governance roles.
- Experience with formal account and relationship management processes.
- Solid understanding of Māori Land management structures and processes, particularly as these relate to administration of ownership interests.
- Fluent in Te Reo Maori me ona tikanga.
- Established relationships within the Bay of Plenty area.
- Working knowledge of the primary sector with relevance to Bay of Plenty area is advantageous.
- Capable of working outside of ‘core business hours’ as the role will involve attending hui in the weekend.
- A full New Zealand driver’s license.
