SIG Whakatane (Whakatane Mill Limited) is owned by SIG Combibloc.  SIG is one of the world’s leading solution providers for the food and beverage industry within the field of carton packs and filling technology.

Whakatane Mill is a coated carton board manufacturer with one board machine and an integrated stoneground wood pulp mill.  The mill produces 135,000 tonnes of liquid packaging board and folding boxboard annually.

We are pleased to announce that we have a vacancy for the newly created role - Head of Sales.  

Reporting to the General Manager - the Head of Sales is a member of the SIG Whakatane Management Team and responsible for the management of all sales and marketing including the entire customer service interface, logistics and supply chain for SIG Whakatane.

Key responsibilities include:  

  • Developing and implementing the sales and marketing strategy consistent with the overall company strategy and targets (customer, people and commercial) while ensuring that the asset potential is maximized.
  • Developing and maintaining outstanding internal customer symbiotic relationships and developing the business and its profitability to match the increased future volume.
  • Influencing and maintaining the customer perception of SIG Whakatane as a viable world class supplier (internal and external).
  • Through excellence in sales and marketing techniques maximise the long-term potential through the market preferably by direct supply.
  • Overall responsibility for all sales planning including: sales plans, sales budgets, pricing and volume.
  • Effective management and performance reporting of the supply chain and logistics function and sales and order plan and identifying cost efficiencies and improvements within supply chain and logistics.
  • Leading the sales and marketing, supply chain and customer service teams. Effective management and performance reporting of the key account managers and customer service function, including customer claims and complaints.
  • Responsibility for the identification, development and implementation of the Sales and Marketing Departments’ succession plan.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • At least 7-10 years’ strong proven experience within Sales and Marketing, ideally with Supply Chain and Customer Service
  • Experience in the Pulp and Paper industry is desirable
  • Proven ability to lead the development of innovative solutions and deliver solutions in a fast changing environment
  • Proven ability to manage a significant Sales budget
  • Proven ability in managing People and Performance

The Head of Sales is a key stakeholder in delivering identified outcomes of the business strategy therefore the ability to foster constructive relationships with other key stakeholders in the business is a must.
