About the role

The Chief Product Officer position is a pivotal role in meeting key organisational goals to increase awareness, engagement and, where appropriate, revenue. The position is responsible for increasing TeamTalk Group’s ability to consistently deliver relevant and quality services and enhance a platform for sustainability.

Working in collaboration with the Sales and Marketing, Operations and Delivery and Engineering teams amongst others, the Chief Product Officer envisions, builds, and launches new services and refreshes existing services. Furthermore, the position is responsible for building a community of engaged partners around each service to maximise impact of its reach and implementation. The position will work collaboratively to integrate technology tools that enhances the company’s service offering and supports our new and existing customers. The role covers fibre, wireless broadband, radio and other emerging technologies.

Duties and Responsibilities

Product Strategy and Development Planning

  • Lead and contribute to a positive, collaborative and innovative organisational culture, providing insight and input to strategic and business planning.
  • Actively promote and market existing and future service offerings to the market through business development activities.
  • Coordinate the development of strategies to grow, diversify and consolidate appropriate revenue streams, in accordance with customer needs and organisation goals, as well as leading the evaluation and remediation of offerings.
  • Drive evaluations of existing programs and services to ensure they are competitive and sustainable.
  • Influence and advise business stakeholders so that programs, projects and enhancements align with the strategic objectives and customer requirements.
  • Coordinate the development of plans, in collaboration with business teams and the sales and marketing team, for enhanced, effective marketing, promotion of services and positive customer relations.
  • Develop targets, measure performance and report against sales targets for core business base and growth revenue.

Product Development

  • Develop a product roadmap based on analysis of market demands, content used in programme delivery and competitive analysis; in partnership with cross-functional teams, gather and prioritise service and customer requirements.
  • Lead product development from concept to market
  • Draft project charters, business and product requirements, and work plans with prioritised service components and specifications, while incorporating inputs from all stakeholders.
  • Collaborating with Sales and Marketing and Engineering to develop product pricing and market positioning strategies
  • Develop market and design documentation that illustrate needs for service delivery; translate design documentation into work plans, minimum viable product (MVP) charts, etc.
  • Conduct market and competitor analyses as needed to formulate and drive product strategy.
  • Partner with Sales and Marketing team to ensure a manageable scope that can be delivered on-time, on-budget, and on-quality.
  • Ensure MVP go-to-market plans are understood by all affected teams.

Product Management

  • Develop a shared vision for product(s) through investigation of market demands, user feedback, and competitive analysis.
  • Ensure cross team dependencies are identified, understood by all affected teams, and then properly managed with a clear set of responsibilities for all.
  • Conduct retrospectives and other reflective activities to feed learnings back into product development.
  • Monitor competitive landscape and new innovations in the marketplace, reviewing TeamTalk Group’s offerings to ensure it is market relevant, profitable for TeamTalk, and well aligned to our strategy.
  • Develop and monitor product budgets and TCO models, ROI, and performance KPIs on each product in the portfolio.
  • Analyse KPIs and propose future capital investments accordingly.

Customer Service, Product Promotion, & Training

  • Clearly communicate service benefits and results, as appropriate, to a spectrum of audiences, from internal stakeholders to directors, partners, clients, and other external parties.
  • Resolve customer service issues through working with Engineering and Operations and Delivery.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing to effectively promote services through social media, networks, campaigns, etc.
  • In conjunction with Sales and Marketing, conduct customer satisfaction surveys and provide analyses to the business on impact and market relevance.
  • Educate, assist, and train staff on appropriate implementation of each service.

Skills and Experience

  • Degree level education essential, ideally in a relevant discipline.
  • Power BI experience ideal, but not essential
  • Ideally knowledge of New Zealand telecommunications market and more general business culture
  • Demonstrated experience in new business development, marketing or service innovation.
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to manage a diverse and demanding workload.
  • Ability to carry out a strategic review of services and introduce new processes to improve the management and delivery of our services, to meet appropriate standards.
  • Knowledge of impact evaluation and monitoring methods in relation to telecommunications services.
  • Ability to think creatively to develop opportunities to suit local need and develop new ways of working, including innovative solutions.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills and knowledge of trends in technology.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to represent TeamTalk Group to a wide range of contacts and audiences.
  • Persuasive and influential, able to effect change through interactions with team members.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Strong commitment to the mission and goals of the organisation
