Established in 1996, the philosophy of always delivering outstanding customer service combined with superior product range and quality has seen R&J Batteries continue to grow and develop into Australia's largest independent Battery Company.  A true force throughout Australia in the supply of batteries for all applications including automotive, commercial, motorcycle, marine, deep cycle, solar and industrial batteries.  In October 2017, the Company commenced operations in Onehunga servicing the North Island and is building traction so as to service both Islands.

 

About the role

We are seeking a Business Development Manager to join our well-established import/wholesale/trade business.  Reporting to the General Manager NZ, you will be key member of the team, with a crucial focus on maximising sales and market share across both the North and South Island.  Responsible for continued sales growth, development and marketing of new business opportunities whilst maintaining and strengthening existing customer relationships.

This role will suite a high-energy, keen and responsible individual who can grow with our business, possessing excellent communication skills to deal with the challenges of account management plus new business sales and development.

Previous experience in the battery or automotive trade would be an advantage but is not essential.

Duties & Responsibilities

Reporting to the General Manager NZ - Auckland this key position will be responsible for:

  • Proactively managing the business development across both the North and South Islands
  • Understanding the industry, the competition and identify target opportunities to seek out key contacts – cold calling and prospecting
  • Developing market insights and options for customers
  • Assessing customer's needs, develop solutions, explain and demonstrates products and services
  • Follow through to ensure the customer experience is positive, leads to new opportunities and repeat business. Provides remedies and/or arranges modifications to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Working in tandem with the GM and collaboration with key staff members to ensure cross pollination of opportunities and capitalising on synergies
  • Preparing sales budgets and weekly reports, keeping sales records, and filing expense account reports

  • Demonstrated strong business development and sales experience
  • Passionate about new business with a proven record of achieving or exceeding set targets
  • Able to demonstrate a history of consistent sales achievements, increasing revenue and exceeding corporate targets
  • High levels of enthusiasm, resilience and the drive to meet and exceed desired outcomes
  • Energetic, resilient and proactive character with the ability to work autonomously
  • Customer focused with the ability to form long lasting relationships built on trust and professionalism
  • The ability to anticipate and understand customers' needs and key drivers and marshal resources to achieve sales and organisational goals
  • Highly ethical, capable and responsible attitude
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact with all types of internal and external customers across the retail, trade and wholesale markets
