ABOUT THE COMPANY
Capital and Coast DHB (CCDHB) is located centrally in Wellington and has the equivalent of around 4,300 full time staff, making us a major employer in the Wellington region. We are also the leading provider of a number of specialist services, including neurosurgery, oncology, neonatal intensive care, and specialised mental health services, for the upper South and lower North Islands, a population of about 900,000 people. Our DHB has an annual budget of more than $1 billion, which we use to deliver health services directly and contract external providers to provide care, such as general practices, rest homes and pharmacists.
CCDHB operates two hospitals – Wellington Regional Hospital in Newtown and Kenepuru Hospital in Porirua – as well as the Kapiti Health Centre in Paraparaumu.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for an Employment Relations/Industrial Advisor, who will report to the ER / IR Manager in our People and Capability Team.
A good knowledge of employment legislation, experience in interpreting collective agreements, and the ability to identify issues and possible solutions is required.
You will work closely with managers to help with the implementation, and to increase their knowledge, of the various employment agreements. This will also involve close liaison with Payroll to help with the implementation of these agreements.
You will also provide support for the preparation of MECA and SECA negotiation strategies.
In addition there will be the opportunity to be involved in day to day ER / IR issues, and to have input into wider HR projects which are being run by the People and Capability Team.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- The ideal candidate will have experience in an HR generalist setting or in an ER advisory role, in a highly unionised environment, a great understanding of Microsoft Excel, and a logical approach to dealing with data.
- You will also be someone who uses their initiative, attention to detail, and customer service approach to deliver positive results in a busy and varied working environment.
- A relevant tertiary qualification and a working knowledge of the public health sector is preferred
