The Ministry of Justice provides a range of justice services around New Zealand. We have more than 3000 people working across 120 locations around the country, all working towards our vision of a safe and just New Zealand.

In May 2017 we implemented an improved way of supporting managers across the business with an Ask HR Advisory service. It has been an opportunity to deliver responsive and customer centric HR advice to support the diverse needs of our managers across New Zealand.

With our current Team Leader, HR Advisory Services moving into another opportunity at Justice we need someone to take over the reins. The beginning has only just begun for this team, there's plenty of opportunity: the team has a good foundation and the business has a strong understanding about the role and function of the team.

But here at Justice we don't want to just settle for ‘good', we want to forge fresh territory in service delivery and exceed the expectations of our business groups.

Working within People and Performance you will be supported by a committed and eager to learn team of six. You will lead the development of their advisory capability and performance- if they shine so will you. Working within the operations team you will collaborate with a team of Senior HRBP's who's focus is complex case work and be further supported by a seasoned Operations Manager who will ensure that you can develop in your own right.

You will have the ability to build a customer centric brand and continue to develop business process improvement in BAU service delivery. You will need to be an excellent communicator and coach, not just to your team but also to managers across Justice. With the ability to deliver complex information and package it in a digestible format, you are not just a leader but also an educator building manager capability through your knowledge and wisdom of HR practice.

In addition to providing the business with operational HR advice and leading the development of a team you will also have the opportunity to work on interesting projects and become a source of reference on all thing HR across the team. We aim to work collaboratively across People and Performance so your voice will always be heard and you are only limited by your own expectations.

 

Skills and experience required:

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced individual. You'll need the following:

  • experience working with a broad range of stakeholders within a large, complex organisation,
  • people leadership skills and coaching experience,
  • confidence and experience providing HR advice, including ER and recruitment,
  • feel confident to challenge some of our existing processes with managers,
  • solid experience with HR systems, such as a workflow management tool and Springboard would be a distinct advantage.
