About the team:

Oranga Tamariki – Ministry for Children has a powerful mandate to make a difference to the lives of New Zealand’s tamariki. It is an exciting time to be part of our People and Leadership team and we are looking for amazing people who can help us demonstrate that our people matter, as without them we cannot make a difference to our tamariki.

The People and Leadership team deliver on our strategy by providing targeted advice, support and guidance to managers on people-related issues and delivering an exceptional employee experience. We also support senior managers to understand the workforce that is needed to provide services for children, and have plans in place to make sure we build the capacity, capability and leadership needed for the future to support creating an environment where people can perform at their best.

About the role:

Leading a national team of Senior HR Advisors you will have a strong focus on delivering pragmatic solutions and be comfortable working in a fast paced environment. You will be responsible for managing complex ER issues and providing advice and resolutions to potentially difficult situations.

You will also contribute to key projects focussing on the development of new initiatives, programmes and policies across all aspects of our HR strategy.

Skills and experience:

You will be an exceptional manager with strong generalist HR experience. You will have expertise in providing practical employment relations advice and experience in leading teams through a period of significant change. You will also have the enthusiasm and passion to drive continuous improvement, have strong relationship building skills and be able to communicate with key clients. Best of all you will be great at what you do, looking for a new challenge in your career, and able to keep your perspective when it all gets a little crazy!
