Reporting directly to the Health and Safety Operations Manager, this is largely an autonomous role leading health and safety initiatives and delivering the improvement plan to the site. You will work closely with the Mill lead team, as well as with the Area Managers, Shift Managers and the Health and Safety Representatives.

While driving delivery of the strategic H&S plan, you will get involved in conducting risk analysis and providing recommendations, leading serious harm investigations, and coaching all levels of the business around employee engagement, their health and safety accountabilities, and legislative compliance.

Key responsibilities of the role include the following:

• Provide support, coaching and advice to site/ business units and contractor interface on H&S matters as per H&S plan within a Major Hazard Facility (MHF)
• Promotion of health and safety excellence through the co-ordination and support of policies, procedures and safety initiatives
• Support and deliver health and safety education and training to remain current with best practice
• Manage the Kinleith accident investigation process to ensure the site meets the standards required for recording and/ or reporting of serious harm accidents, minor injuries and near miss incidents
• Conduct safety audits as necessary, and manage identified audit gaps
• Manage the site rehabilitation programme, ensuring the process is implemented and monitored appropriately.
• Implement and audit H&S initiatives/ policies

The following qualifications and experience are required:

• Relevant qualification in H&S, engineering or manufacturing and/ or minimum four years working in similar environment
• Experience in relevant manufacturing within a Major Hazard Facility environment at a senior level
• Have in depth knowledge and understanding of all HSWA and MHF legislation

A natural ability to build relationships and influence people at all levels along with strategic thinking, strong analytical skills and a proactive approach
