Role Purpose

To act as Stats NZ  Health Safety and Wellbeing (HS&W) subject matter expert, and to lead the organisational HS&W portfolio to ensure that Stats NZ Health Safety and Wellbeing programme is in line with our culture, meets ACC and relevant legislative requirements.

About the role

Stats people work in a wide variety of ways, in our offices (Wellington, Auckland, and Christchurch) and remotely in the field – our HS&W advisor works alongside managers to ensure we are taking a proactive approach to keep our people safe and well. Day-to-day this role will;

  • Manage regular reporting for HSW
  • Build and maintain relationships with both internal and external customers, suppliers and networks,
  • Support and respond to incidents and take preventative action to prevent re-occurrence.
  • Collaborate with leadership teams across the business
  • Provide specialist support in regional and national governance HSW committees.
  • Support the wider HR team and managers to get resolutions to HS&W issues and queries.
  • Develop and Implement the HS&W strategy for the organisation.

What can you bring to the role?

  • Background in supporting managers and leadership teams embed HS&W pro-active practices.
  • Flexibility and willingness to the work that is required from basic case tracking through to policy review and strategy implementation.
  • Experience of supporting office and field/remote workers.

We’re also offering a base salary of $88k - $103k depending on the skills and experience you bring to the role.
