About the role

Our client is New Zealand’s largest community-based service provider, encompassing more than 4500 staff and volunteers across two subsidiary business units – New Zealand wide.

A new role, the successful candidate will be responsible for the planning and implementation of return to work and injury management plans for all injured staff. Key to this role will be your ability to build solid relationships with internal managers and external providers such as Doctors, Physiotherapists and other medical and social professionals.

Another required strength is the ability to identify sometimes complex needs to ensure effective outcomes, liaising with ACC Case Managers to achieve this.  You will also liaise with third party providers to ensure a coordinated approach.

Working collaboratively with the wider HR and Safety and Risk teams, this person will provide regular reports and updates on rehabilitation and injury management case law and best practice. Ideally, you may have a background in occupational nursing or physiotherapy or a related skillset.

Duties

  • Lead the ACC Partnership Programme audits
  • Coordinate monthly claims reports
  • Provide specialist rehabilitation and injury management advice
  • Develop training and information awareness material
  • Review and improve existing processes and policies
  • Develop and coordinate integrated return to work plans
  • Liaise with third party providers and specialists

Skills and experience

  • Significant experience in a similar rehabilitation or health service role
  • Experience in a complex, large scale organisation
  • A tertiary qualification in OSH, Rehabilitation or relevant occupational health service such as Occupational Nursing or Physiotherapy
  • Current practicing certificate (or the ability to gain one)
  • Registration as a health practitioner in terms of the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 would be advantageous
  • Sound understanding and working experience with the ACC Act 2001 and the ACC Accredited Employer Programme
  • Proven knowledge of health and safety regulations
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Proven coaching and mentoring ability
