An opportunity exists for an experienced Human Resources / Occupational Health, Safety & Environmental Officer to join our Penrose site on a 12-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave. This is a diverse role where you will be managing all aspects of Human Resources (excluding payroll) and Health, Safety & Environmental.

You will be the sole HR/OHSE representative onsite and you will be working in a busy environment that requires an eye for detail, accuracy and strong communication.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing all aspects of HR;
  • Managing all aspects OHSE;
  • Ensuring all HR/OHSE policies and procedures are maintained and implemented;
  • Managing the recruitment of new employees;
  • Managing the induction of new employees and the subsequent training and development of all employees in line with the business objectives;
  • Bringing about the necessary changes to HR/OHSE practices, policy and procedure based on continuous improvement;
  • Providing communication and leadership on matters of harmony and advice on counselling;
  • Providing performance counselling;
  • In conjunction with the Director, HR & OHSE – ANZ, champions and promotes a health and safety culture whereby safety is a key priority for the company;
  • Reporting and investigating all hazards, incidents, accidents and near misses – immediately or as soon as possible;
  • Co-ordinating the OHSE committee;
  • Managing and assisting in performing relevant risk assessments, audits and inspections as required.

    To be successful in this role, the applicant must:

  • 4+ years of HR/OHSE management experience;
  • Experience with recruiting and selecting;
  • Bachelor’s Degree with Human Resources / OHSE management;
  • Knowledge of OH&S Legislation;
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook and Internet skills.
  • Ability to assist with the building of high performing and collaborative teams;
  • Technical and problem-solving skills;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to communicate vision/mission;
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to motivate people.

Experience within the printing and packaging industries would be a distinct advantage.
