Allied Press Ltd is seeking an experienced journalist ready to take the next career step as South Otago bureau chief. You will be primarily responsible for writing stories and co-ordinating news-gathering for Clutha Leader. Leading a small team, you will also work in close liaison with the Otago Daily Times.
Clutha Leader is a weekly community newspaper delivered to more than 8000 homes in Lawrence, Milton, Balclutha, Clinton, Kaitangata, Owaka and surrounding rural areas.
This 144-year-old community newspaper is coming under the ownership of Allied Press, and we are looking to expand our reporting team.
Balclutha is in the heart of the prosperous Clutha district an hour south of Dunedin.
The successful applicant will be self-motivated, tenacious and have a passion for news. Ability to find local stories, juggle tasks, meet deadlines and write engaging, accurate copy is essential. You will have an eye for photography. Video and website skills are desirable.
It is essential that you have a full driver's licence. Given the nature of the role occasional evenings and weekend work will be required.
