Puke Ariki, New Plymouth's integrated museum, library and visitor information facility continues to set a new benchmarks in knowledge and cultural heritage service delivery.

The Visitor Experiences Team is seeking to recruit a full-time Organiser Events person who will be responsible for:

  • organisation and delivery of events relating to the Puke Ariki and community library based programmes
  • collaboration with relevant teams, you would be working towards engaging the community through events that are themed around the temporary and long-term exhibitions; important cultural / educational / national programmes and relevant contemporary issues
  • supporting the delivery of a coordinated events programme across all of Puke Ariki and responsible for maintaining the Puke Ariki events calendar and ensuring that appropriate resourcing is allocated
  • ensuring the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective public events for Puke Ariki.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • preferably at least two year's experience in event organising within the gallery, library, archives and museum sector
  • competence with computer packages including the MS suite
  • budget planning skills are desirable
  • great communication skills, both oral and written
  • an understanding of cultural diversity, tikanga and the Treaty of Waitangi and how they relate to the Museum/Library environment
  • the ability to work outside of usual business hours including evenings, holidays and/or weekends as required
  • the ability to multi-task under pressure
  • the 'can do - will do' attitude
  • a track record in delivering events with highly positive outcomes
  • a desire to work in a collaborative and learning organisation, with a strong community focus.
