An exciting opportunity has come up at the Hutt Valley District Health Board. If you want your next role to be influential and rewarding this could be the job for you. Working closely with the Communications Manager, you will be part of a small and supportive team that provides a range of strategic and operational communications functions for the Hutt Valley community. We’re looking for a generalist with a “can do” attitude who enjoys working in a challenging, complex and dynamic environment. 

You will have significant experience in corporate communications and media liaison, and your media and PR nous will mean you’ll be able to manage multiple deadlines at a fast pace, and enjoy it. You will be digitally competent and understand how to create compelling content in the right format for the right channel. An understanding of social marketing will be helpful. You’ll be a great writer with strong attention to detail. Having a relevant tertiary qualification and professional credibility is important, both with senior managers, the media and external stakeholders. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence and negotiate with a wide range of audiences are a must. Being committed to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi, and understanding and respecting Tikanga are also important in this role.
