Our client is an industry leader and plays a critical role in the country functioning. They are in the process of implementing some exciting technology and moving to the next level with their IT systems. They are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Technician to be the engine of the IT support team and continue to provide outstanding service to the wider organisation.
About the role
As an Infrastructure Technician reporting directly to the Infrastructure Manager, you will be responsible for providing customer service to internal staff, supporting Helpdesk Technicians in resolving escalated Service Desk requests, monitoring and maintaining the IT infrastructure and working on network infrastructure projects where required.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Provide Level 2 and level 3 support for IT infrastructure.
- Diagnose and resolve priority issues and escalate if necessary.
- Act as an overflow resource for the Helpdesk Technicians in order to ensure that SLA’s are maintained.
- Proactively monitor data centre operations.
- Proactively monitor network infrastructure.
- Perform maintenance on Infrastructure equipment.
- Perform project tasks as required.
- Create and update system documentation.
- Ensure data integrity and security.
- Create and maintain Disaster Recovery procedures and perform Disaster Recovery testing.
- Record work performed into the Service Management System.
Skills & experience required
- 4+ years’ experience in a similar role
- Experience dealing with customers at all levels of IT competencies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Diagnostic & fault-finding skills
- Knowledge of IT infrastructure, business systems and processes
- Networking knowledge and experience
- Knowledge and experience of MS Windows Server Operating Systems
- Experience completing root cause analysis
- ITIL knowledge/certifications
- Voice (IPFX or similar)
- End User Security (including mobile phones and tablets)
- SKYPE and Unified Comms
- Ideally certifications such as CCNA, MCSE or VCP
- Ideally tertiary qualification in Information Technology
- Ideally experience mentoring junior technicians
