About Social Investment Agency (SIA)

SIA is a small government department with a big purpose; investing in social wellbeing through improved decision making. This is achieved by demonstrating the value of using data, evidence and technology to support decision-making across the social system, trialling new and innovative ways of working with government and NGOs, and developing social system tools and infrastructure that all agencies can use. Because they are small, they can be agile and continually explore and test their thinking in order to develop the best approach.

The Role of Director Data Systems and Analytics

As Director Data Systems and Analytics, you will lead two high performing teams. The Data Systems team is responsible for developing key data infrastructure, systems and datasets and the Analytics team build the analytical tools and products for measurement and insight. These two teams work collaboratively to develop technical solutions and policies for the safe transfer of data and build products to help organisations benefit from their data collections.

Reporting directly to the CEO, this key leadership role will not only help build the two teams, but develop the infrastructure and data roadmaps to increase accessibility of data and derive value in order to make highly critical decisions for investment in the social sector. Collaborating with a number of stakeholders you will push SIA’s agenda to make a positive change in the social sector. This will be achieved through the development of market leading solutions and products that allow accurate evaluation of social outcomes.

The Person – How You Will Make an Impact

You truly get the value of data and the role it can play in informed decision making. Having tenure in leading an analytics, data or insights function, you not only influence internally but add value through leadership to a wide range of stakeholders.

Having already had experience leading multiple-disciplined, high performing and diverse teams, you will be the senior leader people aspire to work for. As well as building the culture and cohesiveness of how the data systems and analytics teams should work together, you will empower your direct reports to be innovative, explore new ways of delivering high quality products and be disruptive.

Due to the level of ownership of the overall data exchange strategy, you will be well versed at managing upwards and navigating obstacles in order for your high performing teams to achieve some pretty ambitious outcomes.

You are agile, resilient and enjoy using curiosity to be innovative in the execution of socially meaningful decisions. You have demonstrated the ability to analyse and evaluate complex information from a range of sources to make key strategic decisions and recommendations.

You enjoy working in a role with true purpose to change the lives of New Zealanders for the better.
