My client is seeking a Big Data Engineer with Hadoop/Cloudera to join their growing Data and Analytics team in an organisation going through significant business transformation.

They are currently in the process of migrating their legacy rational data sources to Hadoop via Cloudera. As part of this project, you will work on setting up the Hadoop/Cloudera big data platform, including design, build and integration work. You’ll also work closely with Data Scientists providing them with the data that they need following Agile practices.

To be successful, you will need the following skills and experience:

• Experience in Hadoop, Spark, Impala, Kafka, Hive, NoSQL etc
• Strong data engineering skills, being able to source data from multiple systems and tools
• Good big data design, management and tuning experience
• Any experience of ETL of big data into Hadoop is a nice to have
• Good experience with Agile methodologies required, including Scrum and Kanban
• Any certification in Cloudera would be highly desired

Strong communication skills, both written and oral are paramount in this position, as is the ability to work with and develop relationships with a range of people both in analytics and the wider business. This is a role for someone who is proactive, has excellent attention to detail and who is passionate about analytics and who wants to work alongside people who share that excitement.
