Senior Business Analyst - BI/Data

 

Our Wellington Data and Business Intelligence Practice is looking for a senior level BA with a solid technical background and understanding of the full SDLC. Our practice provides a range of services across Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing, Data Integration, Big Data and Analytics. Given the diversity of the services, there will be a range of projects and clients to work across, so you will have plenty of challenging and interesting work, with a strong opportunity for future development.  

 

In addition to technical knowledge, we’re looking for strong, clear and effective communication skills, and the ability and experience to engage directly with our customers. The skills to work across the business, building relationships with technical and business peers, will be key to your success. A logical approach to problem solving, while being able to adapt and innovate on new and fast paced projects is also essential. 

 

As a Senior BA in our team you’ll be responsible for design of Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing, Data Integration, Big Data solutions from a business and functional perspective; eliciting, analysing, and communicating the client’s business needs to shape the development of these solutions to meet those business objectives.

As a Senior BA, you will be one of the people in the BA team who gets to know the client’s business and requirements; working closely with the data architects and technical leads to design and model the logical and physical data models of the solution, ensuring all the functional requirements are covered in the design. You will work with the Test analysts to ensure project priorities and business risks are fully understood and be the contact point between the Datacom project team and the client for anything regarding functionality. You will also own functional issues, and identify changes in scope to the Project Manager, and be involved with estimates and planning. This will suit a well-rounded Senior BA who has had Data Warehouse and / or Data Modeling / Architect or Data Stewardship experience; and has the confidence and experience to take ownership and provide the required leadership to the project. You may have been a Lead for a smaller team.

 

What we are looking for:  

 

• A solid base of core business analysis skills and a demonstrable track record of successful data projects 

• A strong technical background and a full understanding of the SDLC

• Experience in facilitating requirements gathering including workshops, concept analysis and design development

• Ability to interpret customer business needs and translate them into data solutions

• Strong process, data and business rules analysis

• Customer facing capability and strong communication skills 

• A versatile and confident approach with the initiative and judgement to be self-managing and able to make good decisions

• The leadership skills to confidently provide guidance around quality and delivery outcomes

• ICT tertiary degree or formal Business Analysis qualification such as CBAP or BCS qualification

• Experience working in both Agile and Waterfall environments
