We have been chosen as one of the service delivery partner to work on Chorus Network for Auckland & Rotorua area.
We are seeking Telecommunications Cabler (Fibre Optic) to help build and maintain our Clients fibre optic networks to be assigned in Auckland or Rotorua area. We look to fill this full-time position with someone who has the relevant qualification or experience or training or Fibre Optic Technician Certification certified by FOA Fibre Optic Association.
JOB OVERVIEW
Telecommunications Cabler (Fibre Optic) also known as Fibre Optic Technician for general Fibre optics applications work both inside and outside of the buildings, offices and domestic premises and are responsible for the installation of the new Fibre to home/ repair and provisioning (FTH) and Ultrafast broadband (UFB) for the customer experience of the new high-speed Internet services.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Termination of fibre connections
- Splicing mechanical and fusion
- Fibre cabling and hauling
- Connecting fibre optic jumpers and drops
- Troubleshooting of fibre optic cable for internet and telephony
- Testing fibre optic line for active internet connection
- May require running temporary fibre drop in a manner that does not pose a safety hazard to the public.
- Installation of ONT devices and power supplies
- Connecting ONT device to existing LAN networks for network compatibility.
- Coordinate installations and assembles to the Provisioning staff.
- Follow work and safety guidelines and procedures.
PROFESSIONAL SKILLS:
- Knowledgeable in structured cabling and other advanced technologies.
- Understanding of local area network, wan network, and peripherals.
- Knowledge on Internet services, Telephony system ie, VoIP.
- Knowledge of new technology such as network devices, computer software, hardware components. Understanding on FTTH (Fibre To The Home, LAN/WAN fibre networks).

4. TC1 or STMS1
