We are hiring in our Palmerston North, New Zealand office a Software Engineer to join our world-class Trapeze product development team which has all in house development with its focus in public sector. The goal is to deliver products and solutions that empower our public sector and industry customers to improve services and effectiveness through flexible and open information governance, collaboration and process management.  

The Software Engineer is responsible for the efficient and effective delivery and development of software products that exceed the expectations and needs of customers of Objective. Responsible for understanding business requirements and, working with colleagues to design and develop software solutions. The Software Engineer is also expected to participate in professional development seeking out relevant information, working with others and applying learning on the job to grow skills and capability. The role reports to the Head of Development for Trapeze Solutions

 

Responsibilities

  • Build software services, algorithms, data structures and interfaces that meet customer requirements and expectations, comply with Objective development standards and deliver business value.
  • Understand and contribute to product architecture and design of the overall software product and service, with due consideration of product roadmap and vision
  • Understand and contribute to the development of design principles and concepts for the software products.
  • Ensure incremental and continuous integration practices are understood, followed and enhanced.
  • Ensure all code has unit tests developed and work with testers to ensure software meets acceptance criteria.
  • Existing unit tests are maintained.
  • Contribute to strategies to improve unit testing framework and management.
  • Work effectively with team members to establish and enhance group synergies.
  • Participate in story card elaboration and estimating, and backlog grooming
  • Contribute to sprint retrospective, review and planning meetings to ensure effective meeting outcomes
  • Work with other team members to plan and manage individual workloads to ensure delivery of quality software within expected time frames
  • Communicate succinctly in daily stands-up to gain transparency on team progress towards sprint goal and completing work in sprint backlog, identifying any need to adapt or re-plan

 

Required Skill & Experience

  • Up to 10 years’ experience in software application development
  • High proficiency in software development lifecycle, particularly Agile
  • Experience in the development and design of desktop, cloud and enterprise applications
  • Experience in delivering commercial software products.
  • Ability to integrate and effectively work with team members.
  • Technologies you must have recent experience on- JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, React with cloud development experience. C# .NET and Azure experience advantageous.
