About Quasar
Quasar is a leading supplier and integrator of advanced energy & power quality monitoring systems, Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS), fortified communications, and intelligent substation security systems.
In addition, Quasar have developed the Quasar Control load control software for the both Supply and Demand markets.
The role
The role is to support and expand our variety of custom software applications such as our load control software, customer support dashboard, custom API's and reports etc.
This is not your typical software development role, it is highly varied and will involve integrating with, and complimenting the energy management & SCADA systems we sell.
You will be our primary developer working closely with, and sometimes mentoring other team members, helping us lead the way on a range of new initiatives.
Your skills and experience
- Degree qualified in software development, web development or computer science
- 5+ years' experience in software/website development
- Proficient knowledge of programming languages such as VB.NET and C#
- Proficient database skills with MS SQL Server
- Proficient understanding of database schemas
- Demonstrable experience with RESTful Web–Services
- Knowledge or understanding of Reporting Services
- Demonstrable experience with Java
- You must be a team player
- Exceptional English communication skills
Other Skills
To be preferred for this position, being able to demonstrate previous experience with any of the following would be beneficial:
- Data modelling and Database Performance Tuning
- Understanding of front-end technologies and platforms such as JavaScript, HTML5 and CSS3
- Understanding of server-side technologies such as IIS, LESS and SASS
- Experience with Python and XML
- User authentication and authorisation between multiple systems, servers, and environments
- Integration of multiple data sources and databases into one system
- Management of hosting environment, including database administration and scaling applications to support load changes
- TCP/IP, Modbus Serial Communications knowledge, SFTP
