With IT Security being imperative to the day to day running of the University, an opportunity has emerged to appoint an IT Operational Security Manager to join the Information Technology Services Team on a full time permanent basis.

The Role

Reporting to the Chief Information Security Officer, this role has prime responsibility for overseeing the operational security of the University’s IT Services. The successful candidate will play an integral role in representing the security team in the solution design process, and in setting standards and procedures to ensure security concepts are embedded in all services and systems, including the network, operating systems and applications.

Some other key responsibilities will include:

  • Development and maintenance of comprehensive vulnerability scanning and security testing frameworks
  • Key role in the incident response team including technical guidance and best practice leadership
  • The promotion of best practice IT Security practices across the University and broader IT Security community

Our Ideal Applicant

Tertiary qualified within a relevant discipline, ideal applicants will be able to demonstrate extensive experience in the field of IT Security. You'll have a successful background within specialist teams across a broad range of IT functions with an emphasis on security across different platforms. You will also need:

  • Experience influencing within high performing teams
  • The ability to provide thought leadership relating to IT security across large and diverse organisations
  • High-level communication skills, with verbal, written and interpersonal capability being essential
  • The ability to present security concepts and initiatives to a range of audiences
  • Proven experience with documenting and maintaining policies and procedures
  • A broad working knowledge of all aspects of security including endpoint protection, intrusion detection, incident response, operating systems and networking
  • Experience working within relevant security communities is essential and an understanding of software development and cloud computing is desirable
