Housing New Zealand are embarking on one of the largest housing building programmes this country has seen in decades as we significantly increase the number of homes we provide and improve the quality of our current stock. We are building a new senior finance business partnering team which will be the catalyst for a change in purpose for finance at HNZ, evolving from operational support to enterprise wide decision support.

We are looking for someone to step into this role in a contract capacity, available to start within the next week and can commit for 2-4 months.

What you’ll be doing

This is a pivotal Business Partnering role, supporting your allocated Asset Development Group (ADG) construction programme. As a trusted challenger of thinking you will provide fresh insight and influential strategic commercial and financial advice and support. You’ll make recommendations to the business to ensure the best decisions are made for ADG and for Housing NZ to deliver its strategy.

Your responsibilities

  • Provide robust, effective business and financial leadership and advice to the ADG Management Team
  • Actively influence day to day decisions, shape strategy and the direction of the ADG business group
  • Adopt a “challenger” posture, when required, grounded in facts and data to ensure the best quality decisions are made to deliver on HNZ’s strategy
  • Leverage relationships with internal and external peers to create a collaborative approach in solving business problems and identifying opportunities
  • Support the Finance and Performance leadership team to drive innovation and business improvement.

About you & what’s in it for you

You will be someone who sets direction based on strategy and is confident in engaging others to work collaboratively. You will be at your best when empowering, influencing and motivating others. You will ideally be qualified with a MBA, Masters (Finance or Economics) or be CPA, CIMA, CAANZ or CFA qualified. You will have a track record in strategic and financial planning, financial analysis, budgeting and forecasting, and project accounting. Critical to your success is your ability to communicate your message along with demonstrated knowledge of the industry in context with the current market climate.

If you are someone that can hit the ground running and believe you can really make a difference, then we are the place for you. Our people are driven by a passion to make life better for Kiwis, and this is your chance to join our team and make it happen.
