We have a permanent opportunity for a GIS Analyst or Senior GIS Analyst in our Geospatial Management team. This could be a valuable opportunity for anyone who has a keen head for technical problem solving and is wishing to enhance their skills in an enterprise GIS environment.
The Geospatial Management teamsits in our Business, Technology and Information Services (IT) directorate. The team provides data, tools and resources to support the management and effective use of geospatial data. This team manages data, builds dynamic maps, online applications and self-help services to help the Ministry get the most from our data.
As a member of this team, you will provide effective advice on geospatial matters, and within GIS-related project teams, you'll work on system solution designs, implementations and technical issues.
You will be responsible for undertaking geospatial tasks including implementing geospatial online services, support, advice, data maintenance, documentation and management, relating to the GISHub, the Geospatial Platform, GIS Systems and data repositories.
To be successful in this role you will have a demonstrated experience in configuration and development of online geospatial services, GIS application support, advice, mapping, documentation of processes, standards and data management. Some experience of FME, Database management and/or server management experience will also be advantageous.
In addition, you will have:
- Good interpersonal and communications skills.
- Experience in the use of the ESRI suite of GIS software especially ArcGIS for Desktop, ArcGIS for Server, Portal for ArcGIS and ArcGIS OnLine.
- Experience in FME will be of advantage.
- Experience in using or applying the principles of a wide variety of spatial information management tools and technologies.
- Experience in developing and implementing processes, systems and solutions.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
