Who are you?

We’re looking for a dynamic IT professional to join our New Plymouth based Integration & Data team as a Data Engineer. If you are looking for an opportunity that offers variety and have experience in software development, system design and tech ops, this could be the role for you.

As a Data Engineer, you’ll support, enhance and develop the Bank’s Business Intelligence platform and ensure high levels of data quality and integrity are maintained across the Bank’s systems. You’ll be responsible for supporting data flows between the BI platform and internal operational systems as well as external third-party systems. You’ll also have accountability for supporting the systems required for the business to do Analytics & Reporting.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

• Experience with OLTP database technologies (My SQL) as well as OLAP databases (Redshift)
• 5+ years’ experience with software development, especially scripting languages with Python in particular
• Solid understanding of system design and architectural patterns
• Experienced in defining data models
• Experience with ETL or other data flow management tools, such as Apache Airflow
• Experience with managing fleets of Linux servers, preferably with configuration management tools like Ansible
• Platform and language agnostic approach in delivering solutions for our customers
• Experience in cloud infrastructure management (AWS, Azure) is a benefit
• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
